Chicken Boy by Frances O'Roark Dowell

Chicken Boy is about a boy named Tobin McCauley. His sister and brothers, Summer, Shane, and Patrick are troublemakers in their schools. His father never has any time at home, and his mother's dead. The McCauley kitchen hasn't been cleaned in months, and all they usually have for dinner and lunch, is pizza and soda. For breakfast one day, Tobin can't find anything to eat, so he finds himself eating a bag of mini marshmallows and drinking some coke. When Tobin starts his first day in seventh grade watching his Granny get aressted, Tobin knows he's going to have problems. To make matters worse, Tobins one an donly friend, believes chickens have souls. I loved this book so much and hope you will too!
