The Mysterious Benedict Society and The Perilous Journey by Trenton Lee Stewart

For the second time, Kate, Reynie, Sticky, and Constance are joined together by Mr.Benedict. This time, he has prepared them a scavenger hunt to test their talents. But before they start off, Rhonda gives them bad news; Mr.Benedict and Number Two have gone missing and it has to do with the horrible Mr.Curtain! As they follow the clues to try and save Mr.Bendedict and Number Two, they face Mr.Curtain's new helpers; Ten Men who have ten different ways to hurt you. Here's a part in the beginning:

"What if we come across a Ten Man?" Constance asked. "Don't worry about that," said Kate, with a dismissive wave of her hand. "We'll just need to keep an eye out for suits and briefcases-and, you know, be prepared to run for our lives." "Thank you," said Constance with a quaver in her voice. "That's ever so comforting." "A Ten Man probably wouldn't even notice us,"Reynie said. "Four children don't exactly look like a rescue team, you know." "Well, I suppose that's true," Constance said in a somewhat stronger voice, and Reynie smiled encouragely. He didn't quite believe what he'd just said-he suspected at least some of Mr.Curtain's henchmen would have heard about them. But Mr.Curtain, of all people, would hate to admit he'd been outsmarted by children, and it was possible he'd avoided mention of them. At any rate, Reynie thought it best to shore up Constance's courage, for he could tell she intended to come along regardless. Kate cracked her knuckles. "If we're going to do this we need to get started. Four days, the letter said, and we may need every minute." "So, what's the plan?" Sticky asked, putting away his polishing cloth and resetting his spectacles. If we're in agreement," Reynie said, "We'll go wherever these instructions lead us. Secretly, of course. The adults would never let us go now-not even if Rhonda and Milligan came with us." "Of course not," said Kate.
"we'll need to sneak out." "oh boy," said Sticky, who hadn't thought about this yet. "If a Ten Man doesn't kill me, my parents surely will." Reynie grimaced, imagining how Miss Perumal would react when she discovered he'd gone. He quickly forced the image out of his mind. "are we agreed, then" Kate asked. "Agreed" said Constance and Reynie. Sticky let out a breath. "Agreed." Everyone looked at the envelope then, wondering where in the world-and into what unknown dangers-it was to take them.

I loved this book a lot; more than the first one. This book has adventure, bravery, friendship all in one.

Rules by Cynthia Lord

I loved this book because Catherine sounds a lot like me.

Catherine just wants to be normal. But that is just too big a wish if you have an eight year old little brother that has a serious case of Autism. When Catherine's new neighbors move in with a twelve year old like herself, she's so happy. But will Kristi like David, Catherine's brother even though he's sometimes wacky? And how will Catherine feel when a disabled kid from David's occupational therapy place asks her to a dance?
Read this FANTASTIC book and have a whole different understanding of families with disabled kids.

The Absolutely, True Story... by Willo Davis Roberts

I didn't like this book because it was BORING! It's about a sister and brother who go on a trip to the Yellow Stone Park with there New Neighbors, who they just met the Rupes. The Rupes are more feisty than Alison (the sister) and Lewis ( the brother) thought! Alison had offered to babysit the Rupes little kids, but on the way to YellowStone it turned out that she had to watch them every single second, more than she could take! The little kids were very active so Lewis had to help her when he could. Also Mr. Rupe is a horrible driver with a mobile home that was as big as the one they had! How can Lewis and Alison take any more?

The Rising Star of Rusty Nail by Lesley M. M. Blume

This book is about Piano, and spying. Franny Hansen is a Piano prodigy. Franny's best friend is Sandy Hellickson, who is sort of like a tomboy, and thinks that Franny doesn't like the piano. Rusty Nail is the smallest town ever. There is only one traffic light, one school for all grades, one grocery store, one church, one lawyer, one doctor, one bar, and one old drunk person. Everyone is afraid of some people called "Commies" who come from Russia. So, the whole town gets suspicious, when a "Commie" arrives in Rusty Nail. Some people even start a club against Commies! This Russian's name is Madame Malenkov, but her first name is Olga. But no one knows that Olga is not a Commie. Olga is a world famous Pianist, and when Franny's teacher can't teach her anymore, Franny asks Olga to teach her. Olga, a hot tempered lady asks Franny to work for her lessons. Can Franny work hard enough to earn Piano lessons? And who will play better at the surprise at Rusty Nail's school, Franny or Franny's enemy, Nancy Orilee? Read this book to find out!!
I loved this book, because I am a musician to!!

The Cricket in Times Square by George Seldon

This book is about a boy called Mario who lives with his mother and father. They are very poor and make their living selling magazines and newspapers at their newspaper stand. Mario has been wanting a pet for a long time, but doesn't get one. His time comes when he adopts a pet cricket called Chester. Living in a newspaper stand is nice, but gets nicer still when Tucker mouse, and Harry cat enter his life. But as soon as Chester shows off his singing talent, Mario's family put him in a cage and make him sing concerts! Chester loves to sing, but only for fun. This kind of singing gets him wanting to go back to his home state, Connecticut. Can Harry cat and Tucker mouse make him stay, or will Chester catch the train, back to Connecticut?

I really like this book because there are animals in it.

Porcupine by Meg Tilly

Porcupine, is not really about Porcupines. The book has a little bit of Porcupine in it, but not much. Porcupine is about a girl called Jacqueline (Everyone calls her Jack) and her younger sister and brother, Tessa and Simon. Jack is a tomboy, Tessa acts like a princess, and Simon is shy. The thing I really don't like about this book is that there are some REALLY bad words. But otherwise, this book is fabulous! Jack, Tessa, and Simon have hard time after their dad was killed in a war. Even worse, their mom dropped them off at their great-grandma's house, and left! Find out how Jack, Tessa, and Simon survive living with their ill-tempered and grouchy great-grandma by reading this book!! I suggest this book to 10 year olds and up, because of the bad words.

Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli

I loved this book. I would suggest this to kids 10 and up, since it has romance in it.
When a new girl shows up at the high school, Leo Borlock and his friends go crazy, since the girl is so different and has such an unusual name: Stargirl. Everyone loves her! The girls invite her to join the cheerleading team, but when they find out that she cheers for the enemy (other team), nobody likes her anymore, except for 2 special people...
I would recomend it because it is funny and Stargirl went through high school, even though lots of kids didn't like her.

The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall

I loved this book very much. I think that you will too! This book is about 4 kids and 1 parent. The oldest is Rosalind, who's practical and responsible. Next is Skye, she is stubborn and feisty. Jane is the next oldest and she is dreamy and artistic. Then last but not least is little Batty, who does not go anywhere without her butterfly wings. There dad is Mr. Penderwick.
The Pnederwicks go on a vacation where they excpect a old dirty looking cottage to stay in. But instead they find a huge castle looking like place called Arundal Hall. The sisters have warned each other to stay out of trouble and out of Mrs. Tiftons gardens. Mrs. Tifton is the owner of all the land. The Penderwicks live right next to the garden of Mrs. Tiftons! So it happened that Skye wanted to go into Mrs. Tiftons gardens to look around. So she walks around the bushes and thorns that make a divider between Mrs. Tiftons gardens and where they are living. Skye finally finds a place to sneek in. She walks around in the garden and is amazed at all the flowers. But then she goes home and on her way out she was going so fast that she bumped into a boy...

The Big Book for Girls by Bart King and his 5 sisters

I loved this book from the start! But it does have some parts I did not like at all! Do you want to know what that is? The dating, and kissing parts. But other wise I love the book. It's me! It also has some cool facts and some not so cool facts.

I think this book would mostly be recomended for 8 year olds and up.
My favorite parts are the parts where you can choose a nickname if you don't have one, the pet part, and the part where it tells what level the laters in your name are.

This book is a real girly girl book! I like those kinds of books. If you want to find some interesting facts, and your a girly girl you will want to read this book! I loved it!

Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat by Lynne Jonell

This book was recommended by our friend named Emma. At first I thought that the book was not interesting. But I was wrong. It turned out to be a great book!

This book is about a girl named Emmy. She has this mysterious nanny named miss Barmy. People later call her the Barmy lady. Her nanny uses magical potions to make no one notice Emmy that much. Emmy's parents are usually away so when her parents come back miss Barmy makes special treats with magical potions in them for Emmy and her parents!

But one day she went to school and she heard the class pet which was a rat grunt and groan. She was trying to forget about it and told herself that it was not true. But after class one of the boys named Joe heard the rat too. Joe asked her if she had heard it. She grinned.

Later in the story Joe, Emmy, and Rat become best friends. But then Emmy and Joe get bitten by Rat and they figure out that he is the incredible shrinking Rat! But how will Emmy grow to her normal size before her parents come back from there trip?

Everyone at Matilda's school is afraid of Miss Trunchull the headmistress. Even the teachers are frightened! Miss Trunchbull is so mean, that when someone does something wrong, she might throw them into the air, or hold them into the air by their ears!!
This book is delightful to read millions of times!!

Marley a dog like no other by John Grogan

This book is special because it is about a naughty dog. Marley, a Yellow Labrador, who is extremely rambunctious. As he becomes an adult dog, Marley eats lots of stuff, like pillows, pieces of a sofa, and even his owner's jewelry! The Grogans buy him a crate to try and stop him from eating the whole house, but he even smashes the crate! What are the Grogans going to do?? I loved this book because it is about a dog.

Champ by Marcia Thornton Jones

This is one of my absolute favorite books. It is about a dog that has three legs, and a boy who is bad at sports. The dog used to be a Champion Show dog until a car accident made him have three legs. After Champ recovered, he was adopted by the boy, Riley. His former owner didn't want him because he had three legs. Once he was adopted, he and Riley did Agility trials.

I loved this book because it's about a dog that does Agility.

Strawberry Girl by Lois Lenski

When I first started this book, I thought it was hard to understand because they talk differently. I also thought it was for older children than I. They said "purty" for pretty and "ain't" for isn't. It took a while for me to understand them. Once I got used to it, the book was so exciting!

The book begins when the Slaters find out they have new neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Boyer. Mr. Slater gets into fights with Mr. Boyer. Mr. Slater also gets drunk. Mr. Slater doesn't like the new neighbors and is always making trouble for them, such as cutting their fence! Bad Slaters!!!

Mrs. Slater wants to help the Boyers, but she has to listen to Mr. Slater who tells her not to help them. The main character from the Boyer family is Berthenia Lou, but they call her Birdie! The main character of the Slater family is Jefferson Davis (Shoestring).
